  1. TOOL at its best! Bought this over 20 years ago, but lost it. Great to have it back. Awesome 25 minute listen from front to back. In my opinion, the simplest form of TOOL was the best, so Opiate and Undertow are just mind-blowing. Any band is better while they’re scraping and clawing to get to the top, and TOOL eventually got to the top/5(K).

Its hard, fast, and Adam Jones lays down some excellent heavy riffs /5(K).

  4. Opiate is an EP by American rock band Tool. It was produced and engineered by Sylvia Massy and former Minor Threat bassist Steve Hansgen. Released in , it was the result of some two years of the band playing together after their formation in Opiate preceded Tool's first full-length release, Undertow, by a kidlearoderlupho.papagoograchenderousmoverlechalle.co: Heavy metal.

  6. Opiate is Tool’s first and heaviest cd, so soft drumming wouldn’t be very compatible with most of the album’s material. Adam Jones is a very skilled guitarist, yet one often noted for his simplicity in his signature sound. Opiate consists mostly of power chords, except it is not the same fuzzy, warm sound he has in the over albums.
  7. In retrospect, Opiate seems a little haphazard, but it's possible to hear the seeds of Tool's oppressively bleak, cerebral metal in such cuts as "Sweat" and "Opiate." The two live tracks, "Cold and Ugly" and "Jerk-Off," don't sound out of place, since they share the same churning riffs, black noise, and doom that characterize Tool's sound. This is not as developed as either Undertow or Ænima.
  8. Opiate Lyrics: Choices always were a problem for you / What you need is someone strong to guide you / Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow / What you need is someone strong to guide you.
